fripodding and dreaming: “you make my dreams” by hall & oats


I don’t know much about Hall & Oats… other than their name reminds me of breakfast cereal that sounds dry. As of today, this is the only song I am now familiar with. And if the truth is told, there are probably other songs in existence that I’m aware of, but unaware that they are the voices behind them. I only discovered this song due to the very popular and underrated hit movie (500) Days of Summer.

If you haven’t seen the movie, I suggest running to your nearest Redbox (if you use their services), video store (if you know where one is still open), or add it to your Netflix queue (you should subscribe) unless you already own it (it’s on my list).

I’m not really sure what I can say about this song other than how good of a mood it puts me in. I relate to the character in the movie when this song is played. Had I known about this song, I think I would’ve reenacted that very scene in real in the same context. (You have to see the movie to know what I’m talking about.)

But as for everyone else, maybe you can just relate to just feeling good whenever the song is played. It has a very happy bounce to it, along with the positive lyrics to further the uplifting up tempo-ness of the mood. The song’s message is pretty simple, too: the singer is happy about his lady, because she makes his dream come true due to all the love and joy she brings in his life. For example, if he’s suffering from one of those waking nightmares, he can laugh at them due to his lady friend being there to keep him calm. Okay, that’s a wild interpretation of one of the lines in the song… but let’s just go for something simple. He’s singing about his dream girl, and now he doesn’t have to dream about her anymore because she’s real. A dream comes true. Aww, how special.

I feel bad I haven’t had time to make some quality playlists lately. I’ve barely had time to write here at the Indoob, as you can see from these friPod posts only. But not to worry, as I’ve said many times, it’s usually for good reasons like being busy on other writing projects or other things in general. I will admit some time is taken away due to LOST. I’ve been refraining from talking about it here… but we’ll wait until after the big finale before I divulge.

In the meantime, let’s all get in a good mood and think about someone who makes our dreams come true. If you have no one, just think of me. [Wink]
