a drabble about a boy and his dog

A drabble is a story that is exactly 100 words, not one more or one less. It’s a challenge, and a fun one. Once again, this is Melissa’s fault. I checked out the website that features such a contest and I’m choosing not to participate this time around. I’ll possibly write a story for the picture for my own fun, but for now, let’s just see what I came up with… and feel free to count the words. For the record, I wrote this in about 5-10 minutes. Let me know what you think.

One lazy, sunny afternoon, Woofkins the Dog barked eagerly at young Jake to be walked outside for his evening duty. Jake slipped on his sneakers and opened the door as Woofkins bolted out, barely knocking the door off the hinges.

Once outside, and away from all people, Woofkins turned to young Jake and spoke. “First, Jacob, I want to apologize for keeping this secret from you that I can, indeed, speak. I just have one thing to say to you that’s been driving me crazy since I was a pup.”

Jake, stunned, nods his head.

“Please stop calling me Woofkins.”

You hit on a few of my favorites – Let’s Get it On (a classic if ever there was one) and Purple Rain (a work of sheer genius). Prince is probably my favorite on this list but I just adore Sam Cooke. Good stuff 🙂

I’m thinking maybe this comment is for the wrong post? It’s all good though, I’ll respond properly elsewhere. :oD

Welcome back! Is this season 2 now? Sterling and Kortney return from hiatus but there's not enough time to talk about all the things that happened in the last few months or years since the last episode. Some of those things they don't have enough time to talk about include HBO Max, Disney+, Heaven's Gate, Tenet, Letter Kenny, and more. Sterlin […]

Sterling invites Vilissa, Janelle, Neysha, and Nick to join him and Kortney for a special live episode discussing the regular nonsense such as appearing (and later disappearing) mirror monoliths in the desert. Sterling also asks a series of questions which yields a favorite response of "cotton balls of sheep."  This is also the last episode of 2020 […]

What is Dreamstorm? We couldn't tell you but it's fascinating and you need to experience what we know of it (watch the YouTube clip here) and if it can help manifest the gingerbread Oreos that Sterling craves. Also, Sterling learns a startling fact about Kortney! Sterling also freaks Kortney out with the rules of the Elevator Game which may or may […]
