womp womp

I recorded a video on my phone today to post tonight. The video didn’t save like it was supposed to (meaning it didn’t save at all) so now I have nothing to show for it. I’m not too bummed by it, though. It was more of an introduction of a possible new video series (even though I haven’t done any more installments of previous videos).

But I get an A for effort, right? I did try to record something. And I feel Read more ›

five years

As I find myself on the verge of yet another unanticipated life change, I can’t help but think about those questions that ask you where you see yourself in so many years. The usual magically round number is five years. And after the past few years I can’t help but shake my head and laugh whenever I think about that question. I understand the point of the question, but I just can’t wrap my head around it after looking back at all the events that have led me to where I am now.

So where do I see myself five years from now? I have no clue but I hope I have a dog by then.

Regardless of whatever happens next, I’m sticking to Joshua 1:9.

“think like a man” film review [video]

I’ve been either really busy or really lazy, but this video should have been posted moments after my review for The Avengers was posted. But nevertheless, here are my thought’s on the romantic comedy that probably isn’t in theaters anymore, or will be phased out in the coming weeks.

“marvel’s the avengers” film review [video]

Hopefully I can do these more often. Also, at least with the blog, anything I forgot to say I can write it here. But if you didn’t catch my point, I’m recommending you see this immediately!

I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. In fact, I wasn’t even planning on seeing it in theaters. But I’m glad that I did. Summer has officially begun.

chatting with kevin marc: part 2 [video]

It’s been almost a year since Kevin Marc and I last had an impromptu interview, but this time we planned it out as we have a sit-down talk about upcoming events in the KMTV universe. I’m still getting used to being an interviewer, but it’s easy when the person you’re talking to is as silly as you are.

Around the 18:30 mark, Kevin and I pose a question about tweeting in all caps. Do you agree with him? Have any thoughts on that subject or anything else in the interview? Hit the comments.

See more Kevin Marc TV, like him on Facebook and follow him on Twitter.

rating the nielsen ratings

Old chart, but NBC is still in last place these days...

It’s that time of year again when networks begin to decide which shows you will or won’t be watching next year. Many shows’ fates have already been decided and it’s evident if you can’t find them on the schedule. Other shows, you might need to wait another month to be sure. But ultimately what keeps a show on the air, is how well it does in the ratings game. Despite how good or bad a show is doesn’t matter much to the networks unless it’s bringing in a certain amount of viewers.

Since I’ve accepted my role as being an entertainment enthusiast, I keep a close eye on the fate of many shows, whether I’m a fan of them or not. How can one tell if a show will survive another season, or in some cases, survive til the next episode? RATINGS! This is one of many sources I keep an eye on.

“So how do ratings work?” you ask.

I’m glad you asked. In order for me to explain why I feel the current TV rating system is flawed, I need for you to understand how they currently work. Honestly, as many times as it’s been explained to me, I still get confused. But to at least set a baseline understanding of what the Nielsen ratings are and how they’re calculated, check out this nifty little video I found. Read more ›

finding escape in my own yard

It’s been one of the more unusual Mondays I’ve had recently. I think most associate the day with dread and disdain and sadly wish for the return of the weekend. I feel no different yet I’m unsure as to why, but nevertheless, I was feeling a bit more apathetic than usual this Monday morning sometime after receiving a phone call that forced me into being more awake and alert than I intended. I’ll apologize to him later if I seemed uncaring about his recent business ventures. Read more ›

“hugo” film review

While I already wanted to see this movie,Hugo’s five Academy Award wins over eleven nominations cemented my need to see this film ASAP. I now have a greater understanding as to why so many critics have been calling this past year and the nominees for Best Picture were all about the movies, besides the obvious.

I’ve heard Hugo is Martin Scorsese’s love letter to the movies. And if you know anything about Scorsese, besides just his films, you know that he’s all about the classics and keeping them preserved for future generations to cherish and enjoy. With that said, there’s a serious nod to the wonderful world of books. I couldn’t help but think of a few of my friends who have a passion for reading. This movie marries the two perfectly. Kids, keep reading and you can throw out big words on the fly too! Read more ›

“the artist” film review

It was my intention to write this review before the Academy Awards aired on Sunday night. I decided to run out to a theater still playing what was later awarded Best Picture of 2011 late Saturday afternoon, and to my surprise, I found myself in a packed theater. Sadly, due to the time I arrived, I had to sit in one of the seats close to the front. That was my only problem with this film, but it was my own fault.

As for the film, marvelous homage to early cinema! I knew all the hype behind the movie, but as usual, I needed to see it for myself to see if it was legit hype.

True, the major selling point is that it’s a silent movie. The black & white aspect isn’t all that spectacular even though it’s employed nicely, a lot of modern movies still do that brilliantly. Read more ›

oscars 2012 recap

I’m going to keep this short since I have The Lost Dial at my disposal, I can express all my opinions verbally versus writing them all out here. Granted, I still have my notes written down, but I’d rather have Mike and/or Wendy interrupting me to make sure me recap isn’t as boring as watching the Awards.

However, I will state here that I personally didn’t find the show as boring as it can be. I really don’t understand why so many people are so critical. It’s a 3 hour (and some change) show, I’m not expecting non-stop excitement. I paid $15 to watch Pirates of the Caribbean  and they couldn’t provide that either, so my expectations are lower since this is network TV (meaning I deal with commercials). Speaking of commercials, did anyone else love those JCPenney commercials? I love you, Ellen. Read more ›
