a dark night when life imitates art

Last night I had planned to record a video review for The Dark Knight Rises after attending a midnight premiere. I was too tired to do so, and I figured I could do it some time the next day. I wasn’t expecting to wake up to news of a mass shooting in a Colorado theater.

Besides the act itself, what terrifies me is reading that supposedly the shooter wanted to be addressed as the Joker… or whatever.

There is still a lot of information we don’t know. There is still a lot to process. There is still a lot I’m trying to wrap my head around, so I apologize in advance for any incomplete thoughts. However, saying “my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to those families” is a massive understatement. (more…)

a new lifestyle – well balanced meat

It’s been a while since I’ve done a “lifestyle” post and I almost didn’t write the one you’re reading now. Everything I wrote sounded dismal and depressing to me, going against my philosophy for what “indoob” represents which is being positive. Except when it comes to a bad movie, all bets are off.

But in short, I’ve added to my career plate. More meat rather than veggies. If it’s one thing this foodie can tell you, it’s that too much meat with put you in a food coma faster than the itis (see picture above, food prepared by my sister). To me, they aren’t the same, but very similar. I once had a prime rib that was 3 inches thick and I could wear it as a mask if I wanted to disrespect glorious food like that, but do you think I could have finished it in one sitting? (more…)

the spider-men comparison: sequel vs reboot

To make my life easier as a lazy writer, the 2002 Spider-Man (and it’s sequels) will just be OSM and 2012 The Amazing Spider-Man will be TASM. Got it? Good.

Now it’s come to my attention that there are folks out there that are confused as to why Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst from OSM are no-shows in this new version known as TASM. I will admit, I may have been a bit lazy in my recent review in detailing what the difference is between this reboot and the original franchise. But I think the best way to explain it is chronologically. (more…)

“the amazing spider-man” film review

While I did record a video review mere moments after I left the theater, I don’t feel it’s up to par for sharing just yet. In the background there were too many explosions, swashbucklings, and there was a dragon that almost ate my car… (all captured on my camera of course) but the audio was bad. I may change my mind and end up uploading it to YouTube and adding it to this post. With that said, let’s continue as if no one will ever witness that incredible video.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise started a decade ago. Wow, I’m getting old. Andrew Garfield picks up the mask this time around to retell the origin of the famous web slinger. (more…)
